27 May 2017

The Douglas DC-3, an iconic airliner launched in 1935, flew to Fukushima airport on May 22 to support reconstruction of Fukushima Prefecture devastated by the 2011 earthquake, tsunami and nuclear accident. On May 26, 18 students from Oshioe Junior High School in Sukagawa city boarded the Breitling DC-3 for a brief joy flight that enabled them to enjoy the landscape of their hometown from above.

The flight was part of a world tour organized by Swiss watch manufacturer Breitling SA. The aircraft arrived in Fukushima airport by way of Kumamoto, Kobe and other places in Japan.
